HPC Centre SAS at ISC High Performance 2026: New Trends, Partnerships and PERUN’s Success

Representatives of the HPC Centre SAS participated in ISC High Performance 2026, held in Hamburg, Germany, from 22 to 25 June 2026. ISC is one of the world’s leading conferences in the fields of high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies. Every year, it brings together researchers, operators of supercomputing centres, technology leaders, and industry partners from around the world. This year’s conference focused on the future of HPC in the era of artificial intelligence, heterogeneous architectures, and energy-efficient computing systems.

Throughout the conference, we held numerous meetings with representatives of national HPC centres from across Europe and beyond. Discussions focused on exchanging experience in operating modern supercomputing infrastructures, developing user services, implementing new technologies, and shaping the future of HPC in the context of the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence. The knowledge and inspiration gained during the event will support the further development of the National Supercomputing Centre’s services and the infrastructure operated by the HPC Centre SAS.

An important part of the programme also included meetings with our long-standing partners, including IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center in Ostrava and ACK Cyfronet AGH in Kraków. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation within ongoing European projects, as well as preparing new joint initiatives in the fields of HPC, AI, and international research infrastructures.

As is customary, the conference also featured the publication of the latest TOP500 and Green500 rankings, which evaluate the world’s most powerful and most energy-efficient supercomputers. PERUN, operated by the HPC Centre SAS, ranked 145th in the latest TOP500 list. Compared to the previous edition, PERUN achieved a higher measured performance; however, its position reflects the deployment of several even more powerful systems worldwide.

An outstanding achievement is PERUN’s 16th place in the Green500 ranking, which measures the energy efficiency of supercomputers. This result confirms that PERUN ranks among the world’s most energy-efficient high-performance computing systems and represents a significant success for Slovakia within the international HPC community.

Participation in ISC High Performance 2026 once again highlighted the importance of international collaboration in advancing high-performance computing. The experience gained, new professional contacts, and strengthened partnerships will contribute to the continued development of the National Supercomputing Centre and to providing modern HPC services for the Slovak research, academic, and industrial communities.
