New Calls for Access to the PERUN and DEVANA Supercomputers

Two new calls for free access to high-performance computing resources open on 7 September 2026 – Standard HPC Access 3/26 and AI Challenge 2026. Scientists and researchers can apply for computing capacity on the PERUN and DEVANA supercomputers for demanding scientific, research and AI projects.

Standard HPC Access 3/26

The call is primarily intended for larger-scale projects across all areas of science and research that can effectively utilise high-performance computing resources.

Computing resources on both DEVANA and PERUN are available, including CPU and GPU resources. The total allocation available under the call includes:

  • DEVANA: 22 million CPU core-hours and 83,220 GPU-hours
  • PERUN: 35 million CPU core-hours, 11 million FAT CPU core-hours and 800,000 GPU-hours

Projects must demonstrate scientific excellence as well as the efficiency and scalability of the proposed computational approaches in an HPC environment.

Call opening: 7 September 2026
Application deadline: 5 October 2026, 17:00 CET
Expected start of allocation usage: approximately 20 October 2026
Allocation period: 1 year

AI Challenge 2026: 500,000 GPU-hours for Compute-Intensive AI Projects

A new specialised call, AI Challenge 2026, targets scientifically or technologically excellent projects that are ready to move from smaller-scale experimentation to large-scale AI workloads.

The call provides access to the NVIDIA GH200 accelerated module of the PERUN supercomputer. A total of 500,000 GPU-hours is available, with each project required to request a minimum of 15,000 GPU-hours.

Relevant projects may include foundation models and large language models (LLMs), multimodal models, computer vision, graph neural networks, scientific machine learning, domain-specific AI models and reinforcement learning. Projects must demonstrate a high level of computational readiness and the ability to efficiently utilise large-scale GPU resources.

Call opening: 7 September 2026
Application deadline: 5 October 2026, 17:00 CET
Notification of results: within 5 days after the application deadline
Start of allocations: 10 October 2026
Project duration: 6 months

Free access is available to researchers from Slovak public universities and the Slovak Academy of Sciences, as well as eligible organisations from the public and state administration sectors. Access is provided exclusively for civil, non-commercial, open-science research and development activities.
