PERUN Remains Among the World’s Leading Supercomputers. Ranked Among the Top 20 Most Energy-Efficient Systems Worldwide.

The latest editions of the prestigious TOP500 and Green500 rankings, released during ISC High Performance 2026 in Hamburg, once again confirm that the Slovak supercomputer PERUN ranks among the world’s most powerful and energy-efficient supercomputers.

In the latest TOP500 ranking, PERUN is placed 145th worldwide. Although this is a few positions lower than in the November edition, the system itself achieved higher computing performance. The change in ranking reflects the addition of several newly deployed, more powerful systems to the list. As a result, PERUN continues to maintain its position within the top quarter of the world’s 500 most powerful supercomputers.

PERUN also achieved an outstanding result in the Green500 ranking, which evaluates the energy efficiency of supercomputers. Ranked 16th worldwide, it is among the 20 most energy-efficient high-performance computing systems in the world, highlighting both the modern design of its infrastructure and the strong emphasis placed on sustainable operation.

The TOP500 and Green500 rankings are published twice a year and are widely recognized as the most authoritative international benchmarks for supercomputers. While the TOP500 list measures system performance using the LINPACK benchmark, the Green500 ranking evaluates how efficiently a system delivers computing performance relative to its power consumption.

The latest rankings reaffirm that PERUN provides world-class computing capabilities while maintaining exceptional energy efficiency, creating an advanced infrastructure for scientific research, innovation, and the development of artificial intelligence in Slovakia.
